Baking feeds the soul. It really does, whimsy and art that you can eat? Count me in.
but somedays, hanging out and relaxing and making something simple, and fun and sugary is nice. it's nice to do! these heath bar blondies are that simple, fun and sugary dessert.
they're so quick. they're so fun. and they're so sugary. Almost too much, but not. Just enough to scratch the sugar itch and make you happy!I like food that makes me happy. That's sorta the point. These are buttery, and sweet with a slight crunch on the edge and a wonderful crunch from the hunks of toffee and chocolate. You really can't go wrong with this short ingredient list. You have it all in your house already so there's no reason they shouldn't be popped in your oven right now!
Ingredients for a 8x8 pan (about 9 bars)
1 stick of salted butter (if unsalted, double the salt)
2/3 cup of brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup ap flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup coarse chopped heath bar pieces (approx.)
Preheat the oven to 350 and grease an 8x8 pan (a 9x9 would be fine.)
Melt your stick of butter (i highly recommend browning it, but that not mandatory, just super delish!) and combine with the sugar, egg and vanilla. Beat for a minute or til smooth and combined. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Combine the flour and butter mixtures and stir in the chopped heath. Mix til smoothed and bake for 20-25 minutes or til lightly golden brown. Cool and cut. Or just cut. The heath stays all melty and caramely for 10 minutes before going back to it's regular delish crunchy state.
and if you don't take pictures, like i almost didn't because you're ashamed of how many you ate, don't worry, it ate about a third of them by the time it was night. I'm not proud, but these are SO worth it!
these disappeared real quick!
